The Secretary of State for Justice, Ken Clarke MP and Jonathan Djanogly MP, Justice Minister has published a new consultation on reforming Civil Justice in England and Wales. The report details plans to tackle the perceived compensation culture, restore proportionality in costs for court users, and to promote mediation as an important resource in dispute resolution. Should the recommendations in the report become law then these will represent the biggest changes to the rules since the Woolf Reforms 1999. If you would like to access the report visit: http://www.icm.org.uk/files/MOJReformingCivilJusticeinEnglandandWales.pdf (Adobe Acrobat Reader required) The Government is interested in what you think and they have produced a survey for your response. Questions 26-40 relate specifically to debt recovery and enforcement. The consultation ended on 30 June 2011. |
